Candle Care
Follow these instructions so that your candle burns beautifully, safely, and lasts as long as possible:
- The first burn is everything! Let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the jar on the first light (usually 2-4hrs depending on jar size). This sets the "memory" and prevents tunneling for the life of the candle.
- Trim the wick every time! Before each burn, trim the wick to 1/4 inch. A long or crooked wick causes soot, smoking, and mushrooming. Use a wick trimmer, nail clippers, or just pinch off the charred bit once it's cool.
- Burn Smart! Never burn longer than 4 hours at a time (this keeps the jar from getting too hot and preserves scent throw). Keep away from drafts, vents, windows, etc. Always burn on a heat-safe, stable surface and within sight.
- Keep it clean! If black soot appears on the jar, wipe the inside rim with a dry paper towel while the wax is cool. A clean jar = a prettier glow.
- STOP BURNING when about 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom. Burning lower can overheat the jar and isn't safe.
- Repurpose the jar! Once it's done and cooled down, pop the jar in the freezer for a couple hours-the leftover wax will pop right out. Wash with warm soapy water, and the vessel is ready for a new life as a brush holder, succulent pot, or whatever makes you smile :)
- WOOD WICKS (if yours has one). Trim to 1/8-3/16in. and remove the charred wood before relighting. They crackle beautifully but need that tiny trim for a steady flame.
Light, breathe deeply, and let the glow fill your space. These candles were hand-poured with so much care - I hope they bring you warmth and calm every time you strike the match.
