About Lumi Atelier
Welcome! I'm Tiphani, the heart and hands behind Lumi Atelier.
Raised beneath Alaska's boundless skies, I've spent a lifetime tracing the quiet poetry of the natural world: the clean lines of snow-dusted mountains, the electric dance of the aurora, the ever-shifting hues of glacier-fed rivers. These are more than scenery to me - they are the palette, rhythm, and soul of everything I create.
Creativity runs deep in my family. From painting and sculpting to music, sewing, and storytelling, every form of making was celebrated at our table. That boundless encouragement remains one of the greatest gifts i've ever received.
As a mother of three, I find pure joy watching little hands discover color and form. Their fearless imagination continually invites me to return to that same childlike wonder - where possibility is endless & mistakes are simply new beginnings.
Clay Chique (an old business of mine) began, quite accidentally, in 2020 with eighty-nine cents' worth of polymer clay, a chapstick cap for cutting shapes, and a wine bottle as my makeshift rolling pin. What started as a quiet evening experiment quickly caught the eyes of friends, then friends of friends, and soon I was showing up at local markets, boutiques, hair salons, and even chiropractic offices with armfuls of earrings. For three joyful years I poured myself into that craft.
Life shifted - another baby, another move - and the clay rested for a season. But the dream never did.
This year, I felt the familiar pull to create again, only this time on a larger canvas. I've never been content staying in one lane, so I decided to open a space that could hold all of it: jewelry, candles, art prints, textiles - anything born from these hands and this heart.
The name arrived as naturally as fresh snow.
"Lumi" is Finnish for snow, a quiet nod to both my Scandinavian heritage and the Alaskan landscape that raised me. It is also the latin root for light - a word that perfectly captures what I hope each piece carries into your life. Whether it's the soft glow of a candle or the subtle sparkle of a hand-formed earring, I want everything here to add warmth, beauty, and a little more light to your days.
"Atelier" is the French term for an artist's workshop - a place where ideas are shaped, refined, and shared. Together, Lumi Atelier is my invitation to you: step inside a space filled with thoughtful, handmade treasures and remember that you, too, were made to create.
Thank you for being here. I can't wait for you to explore the shop and join me behind the scenes on Instagram (@lumiatelier) and TikTok (lumi.atelier1)!
With light and gratitude,
Tiphani
